Summer Berry Jam Bramble Cocktail

A few weeks ago I discovered “the bramble” and I instantly became a fan. Gin has never been my first pick of spirits (in fact it’s probably last on my list), but lately I’ve been loving gin cocktails for summer.

If you’re tired of having to make simple syrup for every cocktail you come across online, a jam bramble cocktail is your new favourite drink.

Jam replaces the simple syrup making this a fruity red cocktail that you can pull together in a flash

What Flavour of Jam Should You Use?

Strawberry is my jam of choice (I have a jar of homemade strawberry jam in my freezer at all times of the year), but you can substitute in your favourite kind of jam. Raspberry, black berry and even mixed berry jam would all taste amazing in this easy summer cocktail.

What Kind of Gin Should You Use?

The berri-ness of this drink is made even more prominent by swapping traditional dry gin with a berry infused gin. For nearly a year, this pink gin has sat in my liquor cabinet because I had no real use for it in my go-to gin drinks, I had no idea what to make with pink gin. For almost a full year!

And then one day I came across the bramble and suddenly it was the perfect liquor to use.

Of course if you don’t have berry gin on hand, you can use your favourite kind. A beautiful rose gin or hibiscus gin would add a level of sophistication that would take this sweet alcoholic drink to a whole new dimension.

I’m really loving hibiscus at the moment. If you are too, try my non-alcoholic hibiscus iced tea recipe.

While this recipe isn’t a classic bramble with crème de mûre (blackberry liqueur), it’s my current favourite rendition of the classic gin and berry cocktail.
